The short version. Auto Records keeps your records on your iPhone. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you turn on cloud sync, which is an optional paid feature.

There is no analytics, no tracking, no advertising, and no third-party data collection of any kind. We do not sell or share your information. We never see your payment details.

Using the app without an account

You can use Auto Records with no account and no sign-up. In that mode, your vehicles, service history, odometer readings, schedules, and photos are stored only on your device, and none of it reaches us. We have no way to see it.

What cloud sync stores

If you subscribe and sign in, your records are copied to our server so they can be backed up and kept in step across your devices. That is the only reason the data is stored.

Vehicles

Nickname, year, make, model, VIN, licence plate, warranty end date, warranty end mileage, and an optional photo.

VIN and licence plate are optional. They identify a specific vehicle, so leave them blank if you would rather not store them.

Service history and schedules

Maintenance records: date, mileage, a summary, cost, who performed the work, free-text notes, and up to twenty Proof of Service photos per record.

Odometer readings: mileage and date. Service schedules: title, instructions, and the intervals you set.

What we never collect

No analytics or usage tracking. The app contains no analytics SDK. We do not know which screens you open or how often you use it.
No advertising. No ad networks, no advertising identifiers, no profiling. Your data is never used for advertising, by us or anyone else.
No location data. The app does not request or record your location.
No contacts, health, or browsing data.
No payment details. Subscriptions are processed by Apple. Card numbers never reach us and we cannot see them.
No push notification tokens. Reminders are scheduled by your own device. Nothing about your schedule is sent to a notification server.
No third-party SDKs. The app talks to our server and to Apple, and to nothing else.

Who can see your data

You. Every synced record is bound to your account, and the server enforces that on every request: an account can only read and write its own rows. Other users cannot reach your records.

Access on our side is limited to what is needed to operate and support the service, for example investigating a fault you have reported. We do not browse user records.

Keeping and deleting data

Records are kept while your account exists, so they are there when you sign in on another device.

Deleting a record in the app removes it from the device and, if sync is on, from the cloud.
Deleting your account permanently removes all of your synced records, including uploaded photos. This cannot be undone.
Ending your subscription stops sync. Records already on your device stay on your device.

You can ask for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing support@ideaobjects.com. Depending on where you live, you may have a legal right to do so, and we honour these requests regardless of where you live.

Where data is stored

Synced records are held on servers we operate, and uploaded photos are held in associated file storage. Data is transmitted over an encrypted connection.

Children

Auto Records is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect or how it is used, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Significant changes will also be noted in the app.
